Oliver D. Bernuetz's Regions - The Border Marches - The Clan

Back to my home page Back to regions Back to The Border Marches

In 1345 there were approximately 750 Amberi made up of the two main groups.

1) Those Who Left the Urlanging

536 people left the Urlanging to move to Dragon Pass.  Of this number 109 were combatants mostly fyrd rather than warriors.

Warriors : 9 (later 12 fyrdmen were  promoted to warrior status to function as weaponstorms to the chieftain, clan champion and the warleader).
Fyrd : 100 (67 men, 33 women- higher than the normal percentage because more women wanted to go)
Elders : 98
Non-combatants : 77 (mostly women - 7 are men)
Children : 252 (between infancy and 14)

These people belong to three bloodlines.

Barntar's Line

250 members, normally lead by a devotee of Barntar, present head is Orlaront Mosdorlson.  This bloodline is where the tradittionalist Orlanthi and Ernaldi are concentrated.  Day to day to life is their main focus.  People interested in farming are concentrated here.  The more traditional, less-warlike Heortling gods are best represented.

Vandarl's Line

150 members, normally lead by a devotee of Orlanth (of the hero sub-cult Vandarl the Binder), present head is Ash Ashsson.  A more militant bunch of Orlanthi farmers, they keep the secrets of the Vandarl hero rites (for fighting Beast folk).  The more militant Heortling deities are well represented here.

Gunnar's Line

100 members, normally lead by a devotee of Odalya, present head is Rasmus Borngoldsson, this bloodline was adopted into the Urlanging clan during the darkness, places a priority on self-sufficiency.  Hunters of all sorts make up this clan and all three Orlanthi hunting gods are represented with Odayla being the predominant god.

Warriors :

Ashart Bolison, Humakti
Blunt Ash-Bjorn, Orlanthi - Starkval the Weaponthane and Dar the Chieftain
Branbrig Slayer, Uroxi
Cedric the Fox, Orlanthi
Ferena Unasdaughter, Babeester Gor
Orlev Ice-Eyes, Humakti
Skerri Brightspear, Vingan
Jarang Hauberk, Orlanthi - Daylanus the Conquering Wind
Snorri Horse-thief, Orlanthi - Finovan the Raider

Plus 8 weaponstorms for the Chief and the War Leader.

Losses During the March

Twelve elders, three fyrdmen and eighteen children died during the march.  (Three fyrdmen died during the explorations of the vale as well).

Survivors

503 made it to the Vale but three fyrdmen died early on in the exploration stage.

2) The Lonisi Who Left

Warriors : 4
Fyrd : 50 (35 men, 5 women-between 15 and say 55)
Elders : none wanted to go.
Non-combatants 76 (mostly women - 13 are men)
Children 120 (between infancy and 14)

Total 250

All of these people belong to the same bloodline.

Elmal's Line

250 members always led by a devotee of Elmal, present head is Iskalli Endallson. This bloodline places a priority on defense of the community and is made up mostly of Elmali and Ernaldi.

Warriors :

Iskalli Endalson, Elmal
Salinar Mannison, Elmal
Kagradus Olinson, Elmal (deceased)
Booth Honirson, Elmal

Plus 4 weaponstorms for the War Leader.

Losses During the March

Just the one warrior.  250 made it to the vale.
